As a general rule,

One second of contact with the body will startle the attacker and cause some pain and a minor muscular contraction.

Two seconds of contact with the body will be felt as a strong blow to the body and is likely to cause brief muscle spasms and may initiate mental disorientation.

Three seconds of contact with the body may cause a loss of balance and mental confusion plus neuromuscular dysfunction, temporarily disabling the attacker.

EFFECTIVENESS ON ANIMALS

Never attempt to handle a subdued animal; this is a
job for an animal control officer or other professional.

The best defensive feature of the Arc Angel Big Stick™ is the extended reach the Big Stick provides, helping to keep your hands and arms clear of an attackers reach. The electrical aspect of the Big Stick is also a defensive feature. If you are uneasy about an approaching aggressor, press the Firing Button and air fire the Big Stick a couple of times. In most cases the person will be startled by the sound of the air firing and back off or run away. If the person gets close and you feel that you are in danger, do not hesitate to firmly press the tip of the Big Stick onto any part of the person you can safely reach while engaging the Firing Button.

After an encounter always secure the area and make sure help is on it’s way. The Big StickTM may give you and others time to reach safety, it is intended for defensive edge and not as a weapon of battle or engagement.

The sight, sound and distancing aspects of the Big Stick can give you a tactical advantage in an encounter with a hostile person or animal – the advantage is time to get away and call for help.
